Piroctone Olamine is an anti-dandruff active ingredient that soothes inflamed scalps and reduces flaking. It is very effective in treating dandruff and preventing hair loss. It has antifungal properties and limits the growth of Malassezia furfur fungus, which is the cause of dandruff. It also can eliminate unpleasant odor effectively, and decrease the sebum output on the skin surface. It has a wide spectrum of anti-bacterial and anti-fungi properties and has an added advantage of increasing viscosity in shampoo products.
